Introduction
Hello everybody, it’s great to see everyone on the chat! Today, we are doing something completely different. We’ll be designing a user experience portfolio in Adobe XD. I’ll be showing you my process and creating a fake portfolio for myself. I’m joined with Naomi to help with questions, so let’s get started!
Getting Started with Adobe XD
If you’re not familiar with Adobe XD, it’s a tool used for creating prototypes of apps and websites. It’s a way for designers to show what the website or app should look like and how it should function, before passing it on to a developer for coding. It’s a great tool for UI and UX designers.
UI Design vs UX Design
UI design focuses on the graphical side of the interface, while UX design focuses on the user experience. In this session, we’ll be focusing on UI design, creating the visual elements of the portfolio.
Creating the Wireframe
Before diving into the design, I’ll start by creating a wireframe of the portfolio layout. The wireframe is like a sketch to see how the portfolio will function on the computer.
Designing the UI
Now, I’ll begin designing the user interface of the portfolio. I’m using a 12-column grid for the layout to maintain consistency. I’ll be using a modern and minimalistic design to give the portfolio a sleek and professional look.
Creating Components
Components are essential for maintaining consistency and efficiency in the design. I’ll be creating components for the navigation bar and other elements to ensure they are consistent throughout the portfolio.
Prototype and Interaction
Once the UI design is complete, I’ll move to the prototype section to wire everything together. This will allow us to create an interactive prototype that simulates the portfolio as a functioning app or website.
Taking Questions
Throughout the process, Naomi will be taking questions from the chat and relaying them to me. Feel free to ask any questions about Adobe XD, UI design, or anything else related to the portfolio design.
Final Thoughts
As we progress further into the portfolio design, we’ll continue to refine and enhance the user interface to create a professional and visually appealing portfolio that showcases my work. Stay tuned for the finished portfolio!
