I get this question a lot from young people especially like say you’re in your early 20s and you don’t know what to do and you need some direction in your life you want to be able to work remotely and not work a nine-to-five job and participate in the digital economy. Before I can help you what I need you to do is to identify a goal. What is it that you want to do and it doesn’t have to be forever but it needs to be for right now something that you can do is just think about like in three to five Years this would still entertain me because it’s important to pick a direction at the beginning and to be able to do it for some period of time because it’s going to be difficult for you to develop any kind of competence or skill or even to do the work that’s Necessary to learn the skill if you don’t enjoy it right now.

Research Competition

You don’t have to look that hard because if you go on the internet and you look at a couple different people that you think are living the kind of life that you want that are making the kind of money you Want to make and doing the things that you might enjoy those are good Clues. So the very first thing you need to do is to identify your goal what is it you want to do and when you do that what I would do is quickly search on the Internet to see if you can find how many other people are doing this

Reverse Engineer Success

Crawl all over One person’s account look them up on social media study their LinkedIn and see where they went to school where they worked what they’ve done the credentials basically get onto their website read everything that they write go and see if there’s a podcast with them and see if There’s any kind of video interview have they done a TED talk because this is where you start to develop the clues that you need to be able to reverse engineer this

Prioritize and Take Action

Write down say five things that you think are contributing to their Success be somewhat specific about this but yet broad enough so it’s not literally be tall that won’t be helpful to you especially because we can’t be taller so it might be one of those things where you can say well they’ve spoken at tedx they’ve been featured in mainstream Publications like Forbes or Entrepreneur Success magazine they study under this person with this course and it’s something like that and what you do is you kind of have an honest conversation with yourself to say like this is where I’m at and this is where I want to be and there should be a gap There obviously because if you had all those skills you would be exactly where they’re at right now presumably and then what I would do is whatever those five things you write down are to prioritize them from easiest to do low-hanging fruit to the hardest to do and then I Would just start at the bottom

Invest in Yourself

I don’t know if you have any money if you’re a young person you shouldn’t be full of debt hopefully you didn’t go to an expensive school but you should have some money what I would do and many people people that are very successful Ultra successful people with high net worth recommend this and I believe this myself invest as much money and time and resources as possible to acquire the skill sets that you need to be at that level this could be at the very low end buying an audiobook or buying the books That you need to read and there’s this concept called syntopical reading which is you read multiple things around one topic so you can compare and contrast different points of view from different authors so that you can formulate your own opinion about what it is that you’re learning so don’t read five books on Marketing from the same person read five different books from different people about marketing and then you can figure out what works for you
