6 BIG Design Trends In 2020 – Must Know!
Introduction
Right first video of 2020 it is 2020 I am very excited now something that I normally do at the start of every year which is the most loved video topic of mine just because not only that you guys like it but because I like to make them They’re really fun it is 2020 that means that there are new things to look at in the world of graphic design now I am a logo designer how many artists and I bring you these videos at multiple times a week and I’ve had a lovely Christmas break it’s been amazing and the great Thing about Christmas break is that it gets you to really look to the future lets you reflect on the year that you’ve just had and lets you look into the future as to where you’re going and there’s nothing better than starting the year really well on a video my first Video of 2020 talking about graphic design trends I will be showing you in this video 7 trends I’m betting my life on seeing in 2020 in the graphic design industry so basically a little forewarning these trends you don’t have to do them in fact I don’t do them but They’re really interesting to see and it helps you explain why it helps to explain why we’re all doing what we’re doing in the design trend in the shoe without trends we wouldn’t have an evolution of design so here we go let’s follow these trends and see what they do This video is brought to you by Skillshare
1. Extreme Font Creation
Something that I’ve been seeing a heck of a lot and it’s why it’s at the top of the list is a lot of font designers and font foundries and typeface designers Are creating more more creative funds for instance Monde true grotesque is a new typeface that was brought out not so long ago and it’s on design cuts I’ll link it down below and with this typeface it’s got so many customizable options inside of it because it’s open Type and it’s so customizable that you can create a fully fledged your logo type design out of it by just typing it down and configuring it all other ways each type of designers are actually making these typefaces that they’re giving you options so they give you custom abilities so they work together So instead of like kerning the typefaces if you have an be it we’ll work together and they’ll have a relationship with it so that means that if you had like a tea and an H the crossbar of the teacher could stretch into the age and it would work Just like you did if you were to customize it yourself but it’s inside of the font and it gives you that option so for the rest of this year I reckon we’re going to be seeing designers up in their game when it comes to font creations you’re gonna see some more ridiculously Creative typefaces being made and also the price of typefaces are going to rise as a result of this as well so you’re gonna see more creativity more functionality for the designer not just a consumer inside of typefaces
2. Ultra Realism
Now you’ve been seeing a lot of companies such as like shoe companies creating ultra realistic designs for their websites it’s kind of like what Apple do with the airport although it is real but they’re creating in a 3d modeling render so we’re seeing a lot more realism in design it’s not just 2d Print or just a logo stack that it looks real it looks like someone’s taking a picture of it these are done with the textures they’re really thick you lessly realistic and the way that you can see that is you can look on any website online and you can see how they started To change especially those with shoe companies I don’t know why but they keep showing you different cool ways of their products being shown and it isn’t actually the product that always taking a picture often most of the time just a 3d render but this still works as a Design as a graphic design not only that there are websites that yellow images where typography is being made and fonts are being made through ultra realistic text effect so for instance it’s a 3d image made into a typeface it looks unreal I’ll put that in the link down below as Well
3. Extreme Functionality in Typography
Last year in 2019 in January I talked about how serif typography is going to be used more creatively more and more and more as we go along into the ad and as we’ve seen we’ve broken into the serif typeface paradigm where everyone’s using a really cool version Of a serif typeface I wasn’t wrong then and I don’t think I’m wrong now when I talk about extreme functionality in tight again this is another tag design trend but extreme legibility and extreme functionality in tap design is booming and by this I mean large type everyone’s going bold everyone’s going Just one word on one page or a one-page website everything is going bold and you can see this through different images online you just have to scroll through behance and not only that you can see this through major agencies and how they’re rebranding certain brands now the reason What I think we’re seeing a lot more of large typography or extremely functional typography is because the way that designers work and the way that we know the best ways to communicate that was very confusing let me explain it like this so my personal belief about why We’re seeing a lot more typefaces that extremely functional with they’re huge and they’re bold and they just flat out there is because of hierarchy hierarchy is one of the main communicators in design it shows you what you need to see first in order to gain context of what it’s communicating missing websites We’ve just like one word upon it and it’s insanely minimalist but it’s also very functional just having one word on that and also you’re not distracting it to the person you’re trying to communicate the message to which is insane so you just have one word on There and that’s it now whether or not you call it extreme functionality when it comes to type design or font creation or use in graphic design I just call it a shoe in functionality because it is extremely functional to have a massive typeface or a massive word wherever you Are
4. Flat Colors
The next one is a pretty huge one and don’t worry it’s not about typography it’s about color so I always have a color trend when I do these videos and the next color trend I think we’re seeing which sort of kind of follows on but completely contradicts Last year’s is flat colors now flat colors one color could be a Bluegreen one of it’s just flat but the difference is we started seeing more monochrome it’s been creeping in because if it’s futuristic look and it sort of got that super cyberpunk color scheme to it as well the the really high The yellows the Pink’s the blues the greens you signed to see all of these colors using monochrome now if you don’t know what monochrome is is basically like black and white but with a color so it’s just one color but using different tones to create the depth of the image The monochrome is really good to use because not only does it just keep it simple but it also communicates the brand color now when you communicate in brand visuals or someone you want to be using that color as much as humanly possible without distracting the Audience so you want to use it on nearly every image depending on your visuals of your
