Why I Switched To An iMac

Hey what’s up everyone alia here so it’s been a while since I’ve done a video not being very busy been working and stuff being working on some projects and things like that and I’ve been away have been a holiday so yeah it’s been nice to take a break but I’m back few things Have changed since then I’m one of those things I wanted to share in this video so I have switched from the MacBook to an iMac and I basically wanted to share why I did that and my reasoning behind it and why maybe you should consider it I think this will also be a good way to decide between a MacBook and an iMac so my MacBook was a 2016 15 inch in Space Gray I’ve got the specs here in front of me I had the sixth generation Intel quad core i7 at 2.7 gigahertz that was the Base speed 16 gigabytes of RAM one terabyte SSD and the Radeon Pro 4 64 gigabyte graphics amazing spec and I think when I bought it it was expensive it was like 2,700 2,800 pounds a lot of money for a machine like that but for me It was worth it at the time because I use it for work you know the work work I do and stuff like that very much pays for a machine like that you know it’s actually quite a small cost when I consider how much it makes me it is my Living pretty much I make my living on that Mac but the main reason I chose a MacBook at the time was for portability you know I was going to the office every day and now that I’ve gotten rid of my office I’m working from home every day I don’t actually need the portability Anymore so I changed through an iMac so I went for a base spec 5k iMac nothing too crazy nothing too special I kept everything base back because I don’t need any more powers but and it’s the only thing I upgraded was the hard drive it comes with a one terabyte fusion Drive but I wanted the SSD so I’ve gutted it to a one terabyte SSD and thankfully Apple very recently changed their pricing for hard drives and SSDs and things like that making them much cheaper so yeah I’ve got in just after they made the changes which is brilliant You know I made quite a bit saving there because the spec I was looking at was a good two or three hundred pounds more before Apple lowered the prices obviously it’s not fair to compare a 2016 MacBook Pro to a 2019 iMac but even when you the latest MacBook Pro 2019 MacBook Pro With a 2019 iMac the iMac is just better bang for your buck you get a better base clock speed you also get fast around which you can upgrade in the future if you want to on the iMac you get more hard drive storage you get more powerful Graphics and you get all of that for a much much lower price as well there are some other reasons why I switched to the iMac from the MacBook Pro and I had the keyboard issues I had the keyboard issues that everyone has been having where characters would repeat and keys Would feel sticky even though I would barely actually use the keyboard on the macbook itself usually I’d have external keyboard or mouse that I would use and even though I was using guys I still had keyboard issues which is just absolutely bizarre you know I very much take care Of my my tech pretty much take care of my stuff keep my MacBook clean and still I’ve got the keyboard issues I’ve got the key issues thankfully Apple do have a repair program however they shouldn’t be happening anyway but yeah thank lad I have to pay for it to get fixed or Anything like that the MacBook itself has also expanded a little bit you know it for someone who’s and it doesn’t sit flat anymore I’m not sure if it’s because the battery is expanded or the Mac Yourself has just like flexed or change shape over time from heat or whatever but it just Doesn’t sit flat on a desk you know what Bulls around and stuff like that which is just bizarre I need to take it to Apple I need to see why this is happening and hopefully they can fix it but yeah bizarre issue I’m hoping it’s not anything too major when I was Using my macbook I usually had it connected up to an LG 5k ultra fine display and that display was fantastic it was great incredible sharpness but even when I compared it to the 5k iMac the iMac seems to have the edge even though apparently they’re supposed to be The same display don’t know why I think Apple just do a better job of calibrating their displays for their iMac don’t know how they do it but the iMac just seems to have a bit of an edge even though they’re pretty much the same the same unit the same display so if we Added it all together if we got a base spec 20:19 MacBook Pro we got an LG 5k ultra fine display we’ve got an external keyboard and mouse as well we got all of that and we added it all together it would cost a whopping three thousand seven hundred and fifty Six pounds and that’s before any upgrades on the MacBook you know if you wanted to upgrade the hard driver the process or whatever else that’s before any of that this is the base spec for the 15-inch MacBook Pro display keyboard and mouse it adds up to a lot of money When you compare it to a base spec 5k iMac that only goes for one thousand seven hundred and forty nine pounds just a massive price difference the surprise difference of two thousand pounds see saving two thousand pounds by going for an iMac compared to say a MacBook a Display 5k display like an equivalent display a keyboard and a mouse you know it seems like a no-brainer really the only thing you’re really missing is the possibility you know you can’t really carry around an iMac with you unless you really really wanted to I have seen some Crazy people out there carry on IMAX with them but yeah that’s the only thing you’re missing now you’re probably thinking why not just build a PC for much less I really didn’t want to actually I was very close to building a PC I’m very much into Mini ITX builds and things like that However because of my work and the programs I need every day I’m sort of tied into the Mac ecosystem to that Apple ecosystem I use sketch for design which is a Mac only program and I use a Final Cut Pro for video editing and those are programs I use pretty much Every day so I really do require Mac OS I’m also very much tied into the Apple ecosystem you know I use an iPhone YZ and Apple watch and I use an iPad so it just makes sense to stick with the Apple ecosystem but if I didn’t actually Require a sketch or Final Cut Pro I probably would actually switch over to the PC some of you are also probably going to be wondering why I didn’t go for the space grey iMac pro mainly because I don’t need it you know the iMac Pro is a ridiculously capable Machine and the price of it reflects that it goes for around five thousand pounds insane money for a computer but you do get a lot for your money and I just don’t need that power I don’t need that capability the base spec iMac is more than capable for my work and for the Stuff that I do every day at the end…
