AirPods 1 vs AirPods 2 – What’s The Difference?
Introduction
Hey what’s up guys all here here so the new generation of the airpods is out. He’s gonna call in the AirPods 2 – looks awfully that’s what most people will be calling them. Apple doesn’t actually call them the AirPods 2 on their website, they just call them AirPods but yeah, the next generation of AirPods, AirPods 2, is also here.
Appearance
On the face of it, there isn’t much difference, they look like AirPods. they haven’t changed the design, the design is exactly the same but under the skin, there are a few changes. The first most noticeable one is that they’ve moved the LED status indicator from inside the case to outside of the case so now you can always see the status of your AirPods without having to open them up. They’ve also moved the button. The button on the first generation was sort of near the bottom of the case, and now they’re more in the middle of the case. This button is mainly for just checking the status of your AirPods and pairing and other things like that. The battery life for talk time has changed; it’s increased now. It’s an hour more so you get three hours of talk time but when it comes to music listening, the battery life hasn’t changed. The song back to life is pretty much exactly the same.
Technological Differences
The biggest change is definitely the chip inside. Apple has moved away from the W1 chip and now they’ve moved over to the H1 chip. The H1 chip gives a few key differences. You can now voice activate Siri so she is always listening on the AirPods. You don’t have to tap or DoubleTap to activate Siri. Apple says there’s a more stable connection now so you’re less likely to lose connection or have any interference switching between devices. Also, it is two times faster. There’s also 30% lower latency. The biggest and most noticeable feature that Apple has included in the next generation of AirPods is wireless charging.
Conclusion
Other than that, there really isn’t much else difference. If you’re considering upgrading, if you already have AirPods, it might be worth upgrading if you were really looking for the new chip, if you’re looking for voice activate Siri, and if you’re looking for wireless charging. However, if you’re not looking for those things, it’s just better to stick with your first generation AirPods.
