How To Design A Vintage Whisky Brand
Hey guys what’s going on it’s me, Will Patterson, and welcome back to a new video. Today I’m going to be showing you how you can create your own vintage whiskey brand quite easily with drawing, illustrator mock-ups, and photoshop.
Creating A Vintage Look
The biggest thing when it comes to whiskey is that sort of heritage feel. We’ve seen a trend in the past 10 years of whiskey brands taking their branding and making it modern but still having that heritage feel. When it comes to whiskey products, package design and logo design fall together. The logo is everything to the brand, so it’s important to differentiate that with branding and create it well.
For this project, I’ve chosen the name “Patterson Scotch”. I started by sketching with a brush in Procreate to create a natural brush script and give it an old, vintage look. The human element and imperfections in the lettering add to the vintage aesthetic.
Refining the Logo
The next step is to refine the sketch either digitally or with tracing paper. For this illustration, I used Procreate on my iPad to create the refined logo design and then brought it into Photoshop.
Vectorizing the Logo
After bringing the refined logo into Illustrator, it’s important to vectorize the type for logo designs. I demonstrated how to use the image trace function in Illustrator to achieve a rustic, vintage effect.
Creating Packaging and Mock-ups
Once the logo design is complete, the next step is to create packaging and mock-ups. I demonstrated utilizing mock-up resources from yellowimages.com, which offers a wide range of high-quality mock-ups for packaging and branding needs.
Yellow Images provides a variety of mock-ups and images 360 to create a comprehensive presentation for a vintage whiskey brand.
Designing a vintage whiskey brand involves creating a timeless and classy look that captures the essence of tradition and heritage. With the right tools and techniques, anyone can create a stunning vintage whiskey brand.
