Are you tired of playing by the rules when it comes to search engine optimization (SEO)? Do you feel like you’ve tried everything and still don’t see the results you want? When I decided to throw caution to the wind and go against traditional SEO strategies, I was amazed at the results that followed. In this blog post, I’ll share my experiences with breaking the rules of SEO and how it led to a surprising outcome that transformed my online presence. If you’re ready to shake things up and see real change, keep reading.

Breaking The Rules of SEO

In today’s video, we’re going to be talking about what happens when you break the rules of SEO. We’re going to be using two examples. The first example is a blog post without any featured image, and the second one is a blog post that only has an H1 header and no H2s or H3s. These are two traditional rules of SEO that everyone always talks about. The first one being the featured image, and I wanted to do this experiment because I hate doing featured images. I honestly think they’re a waste of time. As you can see, I’ve been using Dar to do these featured images for me, and it makes absolutely no difference. It’s completely pointless wasting time on featured images. I hate being told by clients that featured images are important, etc. So I wanted to do this test to kind of prove myself right.

Featured Image Experiment

The first thing we’ll do is we’ll have a quick look at search console at how these two pages are performing. I think you might be shocked at just how well they are doing. First of all, with no featured image, and second of all, with no H2s or H3s.

This is a brand new article that was released on the 4th of December. On the 5th of December, it got five clicks and 37 impressions. This has continued to grow and grow until suddenly 21 clicks and 178 impressions. I will quickly say that some of these are translated pages using the E translate plugin. I will make a video about this very soon. But this is the plugin I use. It automatically translates all of the content. It’s an amazing plugin.

There is another part to this as well, which is really interesting. I actually made this article live on a video about making product comparison tables, and I cannot believe how well this has worked. It’s such a simple article that took me less than 5 minutes to write. But the interesting thing is, there is no featured image. So, that’s the first part of this experiment. There’s a lot of HTML formatting, internal links, and headers on this page. These are the important things according to Google. Interestingly, they might not be the important things.

H2 and H3 Experiment

I also did another experiment where I published an article with no H2s or H3s. It was actually an accident, but I didn’t change it because I wanted to see what would happen. The results are again pretty ridiculous to be honest. On its most recent date, the article got 58 impressions and seven clicks. It’s less about the formatting and more about the quality of the article. As long as you have a table, some images, and internal links to the correct place, you provide value to Google. It’s not about having the perfect H2 H3 formatting, and it’s definitely not about having featured images. It’s about giving value to your readers.

Organic Traffic Growth

Overall, we are closing in on 500 clicks a day on purely organic search console. I’ve never talked about Yandex and Bing before, but Yandex is bringing in 38 clicks a day, while Bing accounts for seven clicks a day. This is where the 500 clicks per day are coming from. It’s not from backlinks or paid ads. The majority of the traffic is from the collections, blogs, and being translated into 20 languages. Do not leave comments if you don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s so frustrating for me when people make assumptions without understanding the full context of our SEO strategy.

In conclusion, breaking the traditional rules of SEO and focusing on creating valuable content has proven to have a positive impact on our organic traffic. The experiments with no featured image and no H2s or H3s have shown that quality content can still perform well without adhering to all the traditional SEO guidelines. This is an interesting revelation that could change the way we approach SEO in the future.
