From impressive performance and reliable battery life to a sleek design and user-friendly interface, the MacBook Pro has exceeded my expectations in almost every way. In this blog, I’ll share my experiences with the MacBook Pro and why I believe it’s a top choice for anyone in need of a high-performing and dependable laptop.
MacBook Pro – Long Term Review
Hey guys, I’ve been using the MacBook Pro since April and I wanted to give a long-term review on my experience with it. Keep in mind that everyone’s use case may be different, so this is just my personal experience.
Specs
I opted for the 15-inch model with a 2.7GHz Intel Core i7, a 1TB SSD, 16GB of RAM, and 4GB Graphics. The main requirements for me were graphics and RAM, as I use it for photo editing, video editing, and design. I previously did a video on how you can save on a MacBook Pro purchase, and I’ll leave a link to that in the description.
Design and Power
The design of the MacBook Pro is still fantastic, and I love the Space Gray color. It’s thin and feels solid. The power of the machine handles everything I need to do, from using design and photo editing software to rendering 4K videos in Final Cut Pro. It greatly enhances my productivity, and it’s more than enough for most users.
External Set-Up
For 99% of the time, I have my MacBook Pro on a laptop stand, and I also have my iPad Pro hooked up to an external display. It handles 4K displays very well, especially with its 4GB graphics. One display I recommend is the Dell 4K display, which handles really well with the MacBook Pro. The Touch ID feature is fantastic for quick logins.
Issues
While I have had a great experience with the MacBook Pro, there are a few issues I have encountered. The removal of the SD card slot has been inconvenient for transferring photos and videos, and the reliance on USB C ports, while forward-thinking, has created the need for extra dongles. Additionally, I’ve experienced a software issue with Final Cut Pro not launching when the MacBook Pro is closed and connected to an external display. Sometimes it also freezes up when connecting to an external display.
Overall, the MacBook Pro has been a powerful and reliable machine for my needs, despite some minor inconveniences.
