Why Your Designs Aren’t Indexing on Google
In today’s video, I’m going to tell you why Google or why Redbubble are not indexing your designs on Google. I worked this out when I made a video for someone, a private video just to help them kind of understand why the Redbubble store was not making sales. And although they were making some decent sales, I think they just need to wait a little bit longer to see what the organic SEO is saying. But I wanted to show you something today which will explain to you potentially why your designs are not indexing on Google.
Too Many Designs
I’m just going to start by finding a keyword. I’ll be back when I found a keyword that suits the bill. But if you don’t know, this is a search operator and I use it to find keywords all the time because I really really like it. Already, I found this example here. I think this might be copyright, anyway, so we don’t like this design. But let’s say you make this design. There are already 37 designs here because there are 37 designs with this in their title. So if I press enter, it should just take us to various designs which have this in their title. How can you expect Google to index all 37 pages? The amount of pages Redbubble has must be absolutely insane.
Canonical Tags
Another theory that I’m working with is that Redbubble chooses what they would call the canonical. In fact, I’m going to check if this has a canonical tag. If you just right click and press inspect, this brings up the Chrome developer tools which is basically the HTML of this website. I’m going to do Ctrl+F and type in canonical. Interesting, so look this has the canonical design right here. I know this is the drawstring bag. Maybe all pages have canonicals. That’s hella interesting to me.
Low Competition Keywords
My biggest theory is that Redbubble chooses a probably what they would be called the canonical. In fact, I’m going to check if this has a canonical tag. If you just right click and press inspect this brings up the Chrome developer tools which is basically the HTML of this website. I’m going pretty deep into this research because I’m really trying to understand how Redbubble SEO really works and to show you guys. This is going to be really interesting.
