What is the BEST MOUSE for Designers?
Hey guys what’s going on it’s me Will Patterson and I’m a graphic designer. I work on the computer like 90% of the time. I’m either at a desk using a computer whilst I’m drawing or I’m just using the computer in general. Over the years, there have been thousands of mice that people could use to navigate their computers and there have been mice that have been specifically created to help certain functions inside of the computer. For me as a designer, finding the perfect mouse, the most functional mouse, the mouse I could use to do the best work most comfortably and the fastest has been a journey like no other. I’ve been using many different mice over the past few years so today I thought it would be a great idea if I put all these mice head to head to see which one has really been the best for me and this is going to include different mice that you’ve seen around and I’m going to give you my favorite one and the one that I believe that you should go for.
Apple Magic Mouse
I’m a Mac guy, so the first one I’m going to introduce is the Apple Magic Mouse. This is the Magic Mouse 2. I’ve had the Magic Mouse since 2017 when it came out with the iMac. At first, I thought it looked cool on my desk space which is a huge factor to feeling comfortable whilst doing work. I liked that Apple had everything in their ecosystem designed to work really well. So, having a one-click mouse with the right-click functionality but then also having it look so nice on the desk set up, being able to naturally scroll through multi-touch was just really nice. It seemed so minimal with just a glass plate on the top with metal at the bottom. The only problem was at the time you had to recharge it with batteries, but in the Magic Mouse 2 you can actually strangely enough charge it at the bottom, which was a design flaw.
Razer Naga Hex
Back in 2017, I decided that I’m not going to be using this Apple Magic Mouse anymore. I want to try something different, not only because I wanted something comfortable, but I wanted something with a high fidelity. I went for the Razer Naga Hex. It was very comfortable, slidy, had high DPI for precise control, and had a reduced risk for repetitive strain injury. The force needed to click was less, making it comfortable for long-term use. It had buttons and a scroll wheel and worked very well for my design needs.
Apple Magic Trackpad
After using the Razer Naga Hex for a couple of years, I switched to the Apple Magic Mouse 2 when I moved into a new office space. However, I started experiencing wrist pain again and decided to try the Apple Magic Trackpad 2. It was more expensive, but it spread my hands out and provided a more comfortable and natural experience. It was great with gestures, allowing me to navigate more efficiently.
Although each mouse I’ve used had its pros and cons, the Razer Naga Hex stood out as the best mouse for me as a designer due to its comfort, precision, and reduced risk for repetitive strain injury.
